Mount Washington

Mount Washington is a flash application that uses streaming weather data to fuel an aurora borealis animation. This data visualization repurposes the raw data stream into a landscape animation where the borealis updates every minute to show the most current weather from the weather station atop of Mt. Washington in New Hampshire. A shooting star whisks the sky to implicate one minute’s passing and an update to the information stream.

The borealis’ color changes based on outside temperature. Its behavior changes based on wind speed, The entire scene changes color depending on the time of day.
