Artifact Surfacing

Accessing an artifact’s related content from disparate collections through the gesture of pouring onto a personal mobile device. Holding an original artifact in their hands, a researcher or curious party can “pour” related digital contents onto a mobile handheld device and then browse such content. Other gestures such as shaking and pouring the device would initiate other interactions with digital archived objects across archives from around the world.

Sample archival objects in the demo included an aviation postcard, a deck of aviation-themed playing cards from 1950, and a replica piece of wreckage from the Hindenburg disaster.
